CONFERENCE
IN POLAND
On 17 January 2024, a conference “Fake news and information overload. How can older people deal with this challenge?” summarising our project was held at the Fabryka Aktywności Miejskiej in Łódź (Poland).
The event was addressed in particular to lifelong learning organisations, providers of training for older people, senior citizens’ organisations, trainers, educators, specialists and researchers, policy makers, public officials, civil society actors, NGOs, practitioners in the field, etc., as well as to seniors.
The event took place according to the following schedule:

10:25 – 10:50 How do senior citizens learn? How to deal with fake news and not go crazy? Presentation of a handbook for seniors on mass communication and fake news – dr Adam Gogacz from Foundation for the Development of International and Educational Activities FRAME
10:50 – 11:15 Senior Citizens’ Policy of the City of Łódź – activities of the City Activity Factory aimed at seniors – Celina Maciejewska, Senior Citizens’ Spokeperson, City of Łódź Office, City Activity Factory in Łódź
11:15 – 11:40 SENIOR IN THE “NETWORK”. – opportunities and threats. From the trainer’s experience. A practical course for senior citizens on critical use of new media in relation to fake news – Jadwiga Kropidłowska, Member of the “FakeNews&Elders” senior Expert’s board.
11:40 – 12:00 Coffee break
12:00 – 12:25 A methodical guide for social workers and organisations working with older people on how to help them improve their digital and media literacy – Prof. Izabela Warwas from FRAME Foundation for International and Educational Activity Development

In the second part of the conference the printed boards were distributed to the organizations, which expressed the interest in their presentation within their premises, often visited by seniors.
